There seems to be a new arrangement these days, to park a spare tram set here during the day (perhaps because the afternoon timetable requires it). This is an ex-RHB set from the Mannheim district, complete with a very rare articulated trailer – only a few of these were built and they are now very scarce.

16 march 2014 - Sambateni, during my visit, the line Arad-Ghioroc was only served between Arad and Sambateni. There was a rail replacement service to Ghiroc.
On this sunday, the trainset 1014/1054 was parked at Sambateni on the unused tracks towards Ghioroc.

22 august 2016 - Ghioroc. Tramwaj dojeżdża do trójkąta na którym zakończy długa podróż z Aradu. Wagon wyprodukowany w 1963 roku do roku 1995 kursował na linii Rhein-Haardtbahn nieopodal Mannheim, na której obowiązuje sterowanie kolejowe - stąd trzeci reflektor w miejscu, gdzie zwykle znajduje się numer linii.

Na ten drugi docierać mają wprawdzie tylko dwa kursy dziennie, lecz śmiem w to wątpić - tory były totalnie zardzewiałe, zaś rozkładu jedynki kreślonej nie można uświadczyć nigdzie poza stroną internetową CTP...

31 march 2011 - Arad (RO) - Piata U.T.A. This GT-6 came from Mannheim, via its twin city of Ludwigshafen. Other trams from the same batch can still be found in Lodz, Poland. CTP Arad is still in the market for any cheap, second-hand Düwag trams which come along and has recently purchased several from Innsbruck and Essen. The market of suitable vehicles is almost exhausted now, though.

As can be seen, it’s little more than a back alley, without a proper paved surface beyond the tram tracks. Ex-Ludwigshafen GT6 car 0138 is one of the few trams to display a fleet number clearly.

13 july 2011 - Arad, Bulevardul Revolutiei. W Aradzie wciąż remonty. Tym razem padło na dwie trasy wychodzące z Piata Romana: do Nowego Aradu i wzdłuż ulicy Mihaila Kogalniceanu. W remoncie także klimatyczny odcinek wzdłuż ulicy Renasterii. Jak tak dalej pójdzie to wkrótce odnowią całą sieć.

28 july 2008 - Arad, pętla CET. W przeciwieństwie do первооткрывателя Strasznego ja wizytę na pętli CET ograniczyłem do 3 min - przyjechałem 15, wyjechałem... CET. Obok trasy powstały supermarkety - przystanku jednak nie wybudowano a tramwaje nadal jeżdżą 3 razy na dobę.

Line 9 is one of the Arad tram lines which has only a very occasional service – three or four trams come here in quick succession in the early afternoon – then nothing. Unlike Platforma Vest (where the only tram to go there in the afternoon waits for over thirty minutes before returning to the city) trams coming here go straight back – empty in both directions, of course, apart from the odd tram enthusiast. This is the place to board a tram – hardly inviting. You have to move quickly here, or you will miss the tram going back and face a long walk.

I think the driver on this duty is going straight back to the depot when he’s been here, as he doesn’t waste a second in turning round and setting off again. Another empty trip, just like yesterday, the day before, etc..... why do they still bother to go here?

31 march 2011 - Arad (RO) - Bulevardul Revolutiei. A double-ended Düwag which started life in Essen, Germany around 50 years ago. Although their mechanical condition seems reasonable, CTP Arad is less bothered about the appearance of their old trams. They run either in their original liveries or have been quite crudely hand painted, and the original fleet numbers are retained, leading to several duplicate numbers in the fleet.

11 september 2009 - Arad, Strada Dornei. Niesamowicie klimatyczna ulica z urokliwą, choć lekko zaniedbaną zabudową - to miasto jest pełne kontrastów! Aktualnie przejeżdżają tędy trzy linie tramwajowe, choć w każdej chwili może się to zmienić. Miasto dostało dotację z UE na odnowę sieci tramwajowej i przeprowadza się wiele remontów. My na przykład trafiliśmy na zamknięcie reprezentacyjnego Bulwaru Rewolucji.

11 september 2009 - Arad, Str. Dornei. GT8 ściągnięty z Essen przejeżdża wąską uliczką przy dużej pętli Piata Romana, na której wtedy zawracała tylko linia 6. Trójka jechała dalej, do Gara Aradul Nou, a pozostałe linie z tej pętli były zawieszone ze względu na remont torowiska.

21 august 2016 - Arad, Strada Dunării. Wagon oznakowany wariacją na temat rumuńskiej flagi oraz nazwą krańca "Germaniaplatz" zmierza w kierunku centrum miasta. Na szczęście za szybą jest tez kartka z właściwym oznaczeniem linii oraz kierunku, z której dowiemy się, że obsługuje linię 6. Ale to i tak w tym miejscu bez znaczenia - na ten odcinek sieci dociera tylko ta linia. Widać, że ulica niedawno przeszła modernizację - powstały pasy rowerowe zaanektowane przez miejscowych jako postojowe.

31 march 2011 - Arad (RO) – Bulevardul Revolutiei. The city of Arad is still a great attraction for lovers of old German trams. Even though much effort is being made to upgrade and renovate the tracks, the very mixed fleet of classic Düwag GT-6 and GT-8 trams from several sources is becoming increasingly run down. There are hopes that the local manufacturer, ASTRA, will come to the rescue with a new, low floor design in a year or two, and these old workhorses can then be retired. At the moment, though, this is the place to go for any enthusiast!

GT8 mija przejazd kolejowy i zjeżdża z odcinka jednotorowego, który prowadzi do dwóch pętli - Piata Gai położonej "na wsi" i Platforma Vest w strefie przemysłowej. O ile na wieś tramwaj dojeżdża w miarę często (co 20-30 minut), to do strefy przemysłowej... dwa razy dziennie. Z numerem wagonu strzelałem :-(

5 october 2008 - Arad, Romania – Teatrul Ioan Slavici. A lot of head scratching is going on here. GT8 car 263 has derailed and various breakdown vehicles and crews arrived to deal with the problem. But there was no drama - within a very short time, the tram was back on the track, a broken rail was welded and the tram service was running again.

6 october 2008 - Ghioroc, Romania. Arad 301 reverses into the terminus in Ghioroc village ready for the long trip back to Arad. The car and trailer are ex-OEG, Mannheim and are regularly to be found on this trip – these are proper ‘long distance’ interurban cars and very comfortable inside. The window curtains are fitted on every Romanian bus and tram. The white building on the left is the former tramway station.
