English Electric Baloon #703

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire - Pleasure Beach. A closer look at #703, which is in original 1930s condition. The doors are hand-operated and the tram carries two conductors, one for each deck.

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire - Manchester Square. The tramway in Blackpool runs partly along the sea shore. In this picture, you can see the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye.....:-)

English Electric Baloon #706

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire - Pleasure Beach, South Shore. Here we see the upper deck of #706. Note the trolley pole, two staircases and reversible seats - you can change their direction. In the background is another Balloon car #701 and also the Pepsi Max Big One roller-coaster

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire - Pleasure Beach, South Shore. From your comments, it seems you find these trams interesting. Here is #706, built as an open-top tram but soon covered up (it rains a lot in England) and not converted again until 1985. It's called "Princess Alice"

English Electric Baloon #713

30 april 2005 - Fleetwood, Lord Street. Blackpool ‘Balloon’ car 713 travels through Fleetwood town centre – the last significant piece of traditional street tramway in England, where passengers still board and leave trams at roadside stopping places.

English Electric Baloon #717

13 july 2010 - Blackpool (GB), zajezdnia.

7 august 2012 - Blackpool, Lancashire (UK – Pleasure Beach. Although the new Flexity trams now run the normal passenger service, Blackpool has kept a few of its 1930s traditional trams to provide a separate heritage service (rather as London has done with its Routemaster buses). A refurbished double deck ‘Balloon’ car waits at Pleasure Beach with the huge roller coasters behind.

8 october 2015 - Blackpool, Pleasure Beach.

English Electric Baloon #718

30 april 2006 - Fleetwood, Lancashire - Ferry Terminal. Two `Balloon` trams at the northern terminal loop of the Blackpool interurban tramway. Tram #718 has been modernised (ruined?) but the other is still as built in the 1930s. Many Blackpool trams carry garish, all-over advertising liveries.

English Electric Baloon #719

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire, UK – Pleasure Beach loop/petla. If you thought the Warszawa Ice Cream tram I pictured yesterday is funny, here is a tram of the Blackpool Tramway (a debut for this system on TWB). Walls Ice Cream is famous in UK, and this tram had a shop counter where you could buy ice cream as you travel!

22 october 2010 - Cleveleys, Rosall Road, Cleveleys terminus. Due to the theft of yet non-electrified OHLE the modernised stretch to Fleetwood was not operational at the time. Much has changed in Blackpool in the last few years. In order to make the system look like a proper light rail line, half of the stops were removed, 16 low-floor Flexity Outlook 2 cars were ordered, a new depot (co-financed by the EU) was built and - sadly - some of the old tramcars were sold off (the remainder will run a tourist service between Blackpool and Bispham). Car 723 will luckily stay here. Apologies for the quality, but the weather situation wasn't exactly pretty at the time.

3 september 2017 - Blackpool, Promenade. Tu bawią się angielskie Dżesiki i Brajanki. Co kilka kroków buda z fish&chips, chińską tandetą, automatami czy kiczowatymi atrakcjami.

English Electric Baloon #726

24 march 2010 - Blackpool, Rigby Road depot. Sadly, when we went to Blackpool we didn't want to check if there are any roadworks going on or something. Of course - there had been renewal works all winter, connected with the impending delivery of new low-floor trams. Thanks to these works there are lovely old Olympians running up and down the seafront but - sadly - these are all the trams we could take a picture of. Ah well - c'est la vie...

English Electric Baloon #762

28 april 2006 - Blackpool, Lancashire - South Promenade. After the Centenary Class single-deckers, Blackpool tried converting double-deck Balloon cars to one person operation. Only two were built before it was realised that this was a very difficult and expensive option, so a new fleet of modern trams is still badly needed.
