4 april 2011 - Timisoara (RO) – Str Ion Mihalache. The preserved ‘Gemene’ type tram and trailer running an enthusiasts’ tour. These cars don’t, unfortunately, carry any identifying numbers and are a bit tarted up as party trams, but are undoubtedly the real thing and represent one of the few attempts at tramway preservation in this poor country. The amount of interest shown by local people as we drove past suggests that (like your author) they don’t get out much. These two trams were built locally in 1927 and are permanently coupled as a pair.
